Rerun edition release
I wrote this back in 2018 for the 200-word RPG contest. The inspiration was the concept of four archetypes seen en ensemble TV shows, which set off my muse and I banged out the first draft of this in about three hours.
I then spent the next week massaging and tweaking the words and intent, shaving a word here and there, moving a comma for subtlety, all that goodness for the limits of a 200-word RPG. I even was able to playtest this twice, running solo and then with my brother to pretend to be four people. (Someday, our K9 cop show will go somewhere!) Even with 200 words, playtesting is important- the central mechanic changed significantly with one play.
I let the game sleep for four years. A few things happened since then, as you know.
This week, the archetypes bubbled up in my brain again and I remembered this game. My muse also started bouncing around about layout options and became lightning-inspired with old TV guide layouts. Another several hours over a few days and it's ready for prime time. Since I no longer had the 200 word requirement, I didn't bother to count my words, but I still kept it sparse for the space and vibe.
This is not a good choice for a first tabletop game, but if you've got your game legs, then this will be a fun couple of sessions for a group that clicks. I would love to see your relationship maps and hear about your shows!
Enjoy,
Mischa
